Checking customers in at the door
Run your door from the Check-ins tab in any browser — scan QR tickets with a scanner, search by name, and watch the live checked-in count.

On this page
Open your event → Check-ins. It works in any browser on a laptop, tablet or phone. Scan or paste a ticket code into Door scan, or search for a customer and choose Check in.
What's on the Check-ins tab#
Progress — "N / total attendees checked in", a percentage bar, and Live — refreshes every 10s. Several devices can work the door at once; each one refreshes every 10 seconds.
Door scan — a code field and a Check in button.
Attendee list — every valid ticket for the event (paid and comp), with Attendee, Ticket, Pool, Status and a Check in or Revert button. Refunded and voided tickets aren't listed.
Scanning tickets#
Every ticket — in the customer's email, on their ticket page, in the PDF and in My Tickets — has a QR code. The Door scan field accepts what's in that QR code, or the ticket's ID.
The web console doesn't use your device's camera. To scan, connect a USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner that types into the page (most handheld QR scanners do this):
Open Door scan
The field is focused when the tab opens, with the placeholder "Scan or paste a ticket code…".
Scan the ticket
The scanner types the code and presses Enter (or choose Check in).
Read the result
A large banner shows the outcome, and the field is ready for the next ticket.
Scan results#
| Banner | Colour | What it means | What to do |
|---|---|---|---|
| Admitted | Green | Valid ticket, now checked in. The customer's name is shown. | Let them in. |
| Already checked in | Amber | This ticket was scanned before, with the time it was first used. | Check the name. It may be a screenshot being reused. |
| Wrong event | Red | The ticket is for a different event. | Point them to the right door or date. |
| Void ticket | Red | The ticket was refunded or invalidated. | Don't admit. |
| Not found | Red | No ticket matches the code. | Search their name or email instead. If the ticket was transferred, the old QR code no longer works — the new holder has a fresh one. |
Scanning the same ticket twice never checks it in twice.
Checking in by name#
No scanner, or a customer without their phone? Use the search box ("Search name, email, phone or ticket #...") to find them, then choose Check in on their row. Use the All pools menu to show only one pool — handy when one door handles one ticket type.
Undoing a check-in#
Choose Revert on the customer's row and confirm Revert check-in. They're marked as not checked in and their ticket can be scanned again.
Who can check people in#
Check-in works for the account that created the event. Organisation teammates can't open each other's events yet (see Organisations and your team), and there's no separate door-staff login in the web console yet. Make sure whoever runs the door is signed in to the event's account on the device they'll use.
Mobile apps#
iPhone: an updated ShowTix app for iPhone, with door check-in, is on its way but isn't in the App Store yet.
Android: there's no ShowTix Android app yet.
Until then, use the Check-ins tab in your phone or tablet's browser.
Before the doors open#
Test your scanner. Scan any QR code into a text editor to check it types the code and presses Enter. If you test on a real ticket, Revert it afterwards.
Download the Attendees CSV from Reporting as a backup in case the venue's internet drops. See Attendees and exports.
Charge your devices. The page needs an internet connection to check tickets.
Customers who can't find their ticket#
Customers can find their tickets at /my-tickets. You can also resend their ticket email from Reporting → Issued tickets → Resend. Point them to My tickets.
