Announcements and messages to ticket holders
Email everyone with a ticket from the Announce tab, send email or SMS campaigns from Messenger, and see which emails customers get automatically.

To tell every ticket holder about a change, open your event → Announce. Write a subject and message, choose Send announcement, then confirm. Everyone with a valid ticket gets it by email.
Announce (recommended for updates)#
Use Announce for time changes, program updates, entry details, weather — anything every ticket holder needs to know.
Open Announce
Open your event and choose the Announce tab. It shows "This will email N ticket holders" before you write anything.
Write your update
Fill in Subject and Message (both required). Leave a blank line between paragraphs; the email keeps your paragraphs and line breaks. Plain text only — no formatting or images.
Send
Choose Send announcement, then confirm in Send this announcement? Sending can't be undone, and there's no draft or schedule option.
Who receives it#
Everyone holding a valid ticket, including guest-list (comp) guests.
One email per address — a customer with four tickets gets one email.
Not refunded or voided tickets.
If no one holds a ticket yet, the button is disabled and the tab says there's no one to announce to.
What the email looks like#
The subject is your subject line. The email is headed Event update, says "Hi (first name) — a quick update from the organiser of (event)", then shows your message, the event's date, time and venue with a map link, and "No action is needed unless the message above asks for it."
Replies go to ShowTix support, not to you. If you want customers to contact you, put your email or phone number in the message.
Messenger (email and SMS campaigns)#
The Messenger tab sends campaigns to everyone who bought a ticket to the event, by Email or SMS.
Email — add a subject and message, then Send now, or Save draft to finish later. Drafts are listed under Campaigns with Edit and send buttons.
SMS — write a short message (a character count is shown) and Send now. Best for day-of logistics. SMS can't be saved as a draft.
Campaigns lists everything you've sent, with the time and number of recipients.
Things to know about Messenger today:
It sends to the ticket holders on your event's orders, including any that were later refunded. Guest-list guests aren't included. For a "ticket holders only" message, use Announce.
Messenger emails don't keep your line breaks yet, so long messages run together. Use Announce for anything longer than a few lines.
It only finds recipients when used from the account that created the event.
Emails customers get automatically#
You don't need to send these — ShowTix does it for you:
| When | |
|---|---|
| Order confirmation with tickets | Straight after purchase |
| Guest-list ticket | When you issue a comp |
| Know before you go | Once, in the 48 hours before a public event starts — tickets link, directions, doors time |
| Thanks for coming | Once, in the 48 hours after the event ends, with a few other upcoming events |
| Waitlist release | When tickets free up (see Waitlists) |
| Refund confirmed or declined | When you resolve a refund request |
| Event cancelled | When you use Cancel & refund |
Changing the date, time or venue#
Editing your event's details doesn't email customers automatically. (A live event's date or venue is changed by ShowTix support — see Editing details later.) After you change something important, send an Announce message so ticket holders know. If you're calling the event off, use Cancel & refund instead — customers are refunded and emailed. See Refunds and cancellations.
Unsubscribes#
Announcements and the automatic emails above are about a ticket the customer holds, so they're sent as service messages. For how customers manage other emails, see Notifications and unsubscribing.
