Fees explained
Customers pay the price you set. The booking fee — $1 plus 3.5% of the rest — comes out of that price, and free tickets are free.

On this page
Your customer pays exactly the price shown on the ticket — nothing is added at checkout. The ShowTix booking fee is taken out of that price, so you absorb it. There are no setup, monthly or listing fees.
The formula#
For each paid ticket:
Booking fee = $1.00 + 3.5% × (ticket price − $1.00)
You receive = ticket price − booking fee
The 3.5% part is rounded to the nearest cent per ticket. There is no cap — the fee is the same formula at every price. The fee is worked out per ticket, so an order of four $25 tickets carries four $1.84 fees.
Worked examples#
| Ticket price (customer pays) | Booking fee | You receive |
|---|---|---|
| Free ($0.00) | $0.00 | $0.00 |
| $10.00 | $1.32 | $8.68 |
| $25.00 | $1.84 | $23.16 |
| $50.00 | $2.72 | $47.28 |
| $100.00 | $4.47 | $95.53 |
For example, on a $50 ticket: $1.00 + 3.5% × $49.00 = $1.00 + $1.72 = $2.72.
The pricing page and the True Price comparison use the same live numbers.
Free tickets#
Free tickets are free — no booking fee is charged to you or the customer. Free events also skip the first-event review (see Publishing and approval).
Paid tickets must be more than $1#
The first $1.00 of every paid ticket is the fixed part of the fee, so price paid tickets above $1.00 — at $1 or less you'd receive nothing. If you build your event before signing in, the builder enforces this: a price of $1 or less (other than $0) shows Paid tickets need to be more than $1.00 — or set $0 for free.
Seeing the fee as you price tickets#
You don't have to do the maths:
In the event builder (before you sign in), each ticket type shows a line under the price: Customers pay $X all-in. You receive $Y per ticket after the $Z booking fee.
On your event's ticket editor, each ticket type has two linked fields — You receive and Customer pays. Type in either one and the other is calculated from your fee schedule, with the Booking fees amount shown beside them. See Ticket types and pricing.
GST#
All prices are in AUD and include GST.
The booking fee is supplied by ShowTix (Songbrothers Records Pty Ltd t/as ShowTix Event Ticketing) and includes GST. The customer's receipt itemises it as Includes booking fee.
Your share of the ticket is treated as GST-inclusive when a ticket type has GST applied (the default). On your event's Payments page this shows as GST collected (payable by you) — one-eleventh of your net ticket revenue for those ticket types. Remitting that GST to the ATO is your responsibility. If you're not registered for GST, untick Price includes GST under the ticket type's Advanced options.
This is general information about how the platform splits the money, not tax advice. Talk to your accountant about your GST obligations.
Where you see fees after sales#
Open your event → Payments. The breakdown shows Gross ticket revenue, Platform & booking fees, GST collected (payable by you) and Net payout to you. Your event overview also shows a Booking fees total. See Payouts.
Refunds and fees#
A refund returns the ticket price excluding the booking fee by default, so it only comes out of what you earned. You can choose to refund the booking fee too — you're then out of pocket by the fee, because booking fees aren't returned to ShowTix. See Booking fees on refunds.
