Event changes and cancellations

What ShowTix emails you when an event changes or is cancelled — automatic refunds, host updates, and reminders before the show.

On this page

If a host cancels an event, every paid order is refunded — the ticket price, plus the booking fee if the organiser chooses to refund it — and you're emailed automatically with the exact amount. For other changes, like a new time or venue details, the host sends an update by email to everyone holding a ticket.

If the event is cancelled#

When a host cancels a ticketed event on ShowTix:

  1. The event is taken off sale.

  2. Every paid order is refunded the ticket price — plus the booking fee if the organiser chooses to refund it — to the card or PayPal account it was paid with.

  3. You get an email titled "[event] has been cancelled — you've been refunded", showing the amount refunded and whether the booking fee was included. "You don't need to do anything."

  4. Your tickets are cancelled.

Card refunds usually land within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. If your order was free, the email says there's nothing to refund and your tickets have simply been cancelled.

Didn't get the email?

Check spam first, then look up your order in My Tickets — refunded tickets show as Refunded. If the refund hasn't appeared on your statement after 10 business days, contact support with your order reference.

If the date, time or details change#

There's no automatic email when a host edits an event's date, time or venue. Instead, hosts send updates to ticket holders using announcements. An announcement:

  • comes from ShowTix with the host's own subject line (for example "Doors now open at 7:30pm")

  • starts "A quick update from the organiser of [event]" and includes their message

  • goes to everyone currently holding a ticket for the event

Your tickets stay valid unless the host says otherwise. If a change means you can't attend, ask for a refund from your order page — see Refunds. Whether a refund is given for a rescheduled event is up to the host.

Check the event page

The event page always shows the current date, time, doors time and venue. If you've added the event to your calendar, update it after a change — calendar entries don't update themselves.

Emails before and after the event#

WhenEmailWhat's in it
Within 48 hours of the start"You're going to [event] — know before you go"Date, venue, doors time, View your tickets and Get directions
Within 48 hours after it ends"Thanks for coming to [event]"A short thank-you and other events you might like

You get each of these once per event, even if you hold several tickets. Refunded ticket holders don't get the reminder.

Events listed from other sites#

Events in What's On marked Unofficial listing are sold on another ticketing site. ShowTix isn't told about their changes or cancellations — check with the site you bought from.

Questions about a change#

Reply to any ShowTix email about the event, or contact support — include the event name and your order reference.
