Using a promo code
Where to enter a ShowTix promo code at checkout, how the discount shows, and what to do when a code doesn't work.
For customersLast updated
On this page
Enter your code in the Promo code box at checkout and apply it. The discount shows in your Order Summary straight away, and the total you pay goes down.
Promo codes are created by the event's host, so each code only works for the event it was made for.
How to apply a code#
Choose your tickets and select Checkout.
In the Promo code box, type the code into Enter code and select Apply. Codes aren't case-sensitive — we convert them to capitals for you.
Check the Order Summary. You'll see the code and the discount on its own line, and a lower Total.
Finish checkout as usual.
You can use one code per order. To swap codes, remove the current one first (select the × next to it) and enter the new one.
Special offers on the event page#
Some events show a Special Offer banner above the tickets, with a code to use at checkout. Note the code, then enter it in Promo code when you check out — it isn't applied automatically.
Where the discount shows afterwards#
Your receipt in the confirmation email and on your order page lists the Subtotal, the promo code and the amount taken off, then Total paid. See Receipts and tax invoices.
When a code doesn't work#
| Message | What it means |
|---|---|
| "We couldn't find a promo code called …" | The code is misspelt, or it belongs to a different event. Check the spelling and the event. |
| "That promo code isn't active for this event" | The host has switched the code off. |
| "Spend $x to use this code" | The code needs a minimum order total. Add tickets to reach it. |
| "This code has reached its limit" | The code has been used as many times as the host allowed. |
| "Unable to apply that promo code" | Something else went wrong. Try again, or remove and re-enter it. |
A code can also be limited to certain ticket types. If you apply it and the discount is smaller than you expected, it's probably only taking money off the ticket types it covers.
We can't override a code
Promo codes are set up and controlled by the host. If you think a code should work and it doesn't, contact the host who gave it to you. ShowTix support can't create codes or add discounts to orders.
Can I add a code after I've paid?#
No. Codes can only be applied before you pay. If you forgot to use one, contact the host — whether they offer a partial refund is up to them. See Refunds.
