Refunds and refund requests

How to ask for a refund on a ShowTix order, who decides, what's refunded and how long the money takes to come back.

For customersLast updated

On this page

To ask for a refund, open your order and select Request a refund. Your request goes to the event's host, who decides whether to approve it — refunds are at the organiser's discretion. If they approve, you get back the ticket price to your original payment method. The booking fee isn't refundable unless the organiser chooses to refund it too — your refund email says exactly what was refunded.

If the host cancels the event, you don't need to ask — you're refunded the ticket price automatically, plus the booking fee if the organiser chooses to refund it. See Event changes and cancellations.

Request a refund#

  1. Open your order

Use View your tickets in your confirmation email, or find it in My Tickets and select View full order.

  2. Select Request a refund

It's under your order details. It only appears on paid orders that haven't already been fully refunded.

  3. Tell the host why

Add a reason in the box ("Let the organiser know why you'd like a refund"). It's optional but helps.

  4. Submit

Select Submit request. The order page then shows Refund request submitted.

You can have one request open per order at a time.

What happens next#

The host reviews your request and you're emailed either way:

OutcomeWhat you'll get
Approved"Your refund for [event] has been approved" — with the amount refunded. The tickets on the order are cancelled.
Declined"Update on your refund request for [event]" — with the host's note if they left one. Your tickets stay valid.

There's no set deadline for the host to respond. If you haven't heard back and the event is close, contact the host or support.

What gets refunded#

  • An approved request refunds the whole order — the ticket prices still refundable on it. The booking fee is only included if the organiser chooses.

  • If the host has already refunded some tickets, you get the remainder.

  • Free orders can't be refunded, because nothing was paid. The Request a refund button doesn't show on them.

Hosts can also refund individual tickets themselves from their side. Refunded tickets show as Refunded in My Tickets and can't be used for entry.

When the money arrives#

Refunds go back to the card or PayPal account you paid with. Card refunds usually land within 5–10 business days, depending on your bank. We can't send a refund to a different card or account.

Refund policies#

Each host sets their own refund policy. ShowTix doesn't guarantee a refund if you change your mind, can't attend, or the event goes ahead as planned. Check the event page and contact the host if you're unsure.

Can't go? Try a transfer

If the host won't refund, you can still transfer your ticket to someone who can use it — and recover some of your cost (up to face value plus 10%). See Transferring tickets.

Messages you might see#

MessageWhat it means
"This order isn't eligible for a refund request."The order is free or already fully refunded.
"A refund request for this order is already pending review."You've already asked — wait for the host's reply.

Disputes#

Before raising a chargeback with your bank, please contact support with your order reference — we can usually help faster.
